September News
At Covenant Church, our commitment to missions is rooted in the words of Jesus and the teachings of Scripture. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus gave His disciples the Great Commission, calling them to "go and make disciples of all nations." This command wasn't just for the early church; it is a timeless mandate for all believers. We are called to be active participants in God's mission, sharing the good news of salvation and teaching others to follow Christ. As a church, we take this command seriously, dedicating ourselves to local, regional, and global missions, recognizing that our mission field extends beyond our immediate community.
The importance of missions is further emphasized in Acts 1:8, where Jesus promised that His followers would receive power from the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses "in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." This verse highlights the expanding circles of influence that each believer is called to reach. Covenant Church supports local missions in our "Jerusalem," regional missions in our "Judea and Samaria," and global missions "to the ends of the earth." By engaging in missions at every level, we fulfill our role as Christ’s ambassadors, bringing the message of reconciliation to a world in need, as described in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20.
Supporting missions is not just a church initiative; it's a personal responsibility for each of us. Romans 10:13-15 reminds us that people cannot believe in the gospel unless they hear it, and they cannot hear it unless someone is sent to share it. This is why our support for missions is so vital. Whether through prayer, financial contributions, or personal involvement, we each have a role to play in advancing God’s kingdom. At Covenant Church, we believe that our collective efforts can make an eternal impact, and we encourage every member of our church family to actively support and participate in the mission work that God has entrusted to us. Together, we can fulfill the Great Commission and bring the hope of Christ to all people.
During September, you will hear about how Covenant Church engages in missions and how you can get involved.
